Made for the ARRI ALEXA Mini
Transform your ALEXA Mini to a fully featured mini doc camera with on-board audio capabilities with the DXA-ALEXA. The carbon fiber chassis matches the look and feel of the camera and with a weight of under 1 lb, the slim line design will easily fit on your rig and not bog you down. Constructed of top quality components, including weather resistant top panel switches for outstanding reliability and durability.
Can also be used with the new ARRI ALEXA Mini LF or any other mini cinema cameras such as the RED DSMC2 models. Here are the cables needed to connect to these cameras:
ALEXA Mini: BT-LEMO (5-pin XLR to 5-pin LEMO)
ALEXA Mini LF: BT-LF (5-pin XLR to 6-pin LEMO)
RED DSMC2: BT-MINI (5-pin XLR to 3.5mm TRS)
The ultra low-noise preamplifiers provide exceptional performance with over 100dB in dynamic range. The two XLR inputs are transformer balanced for galvanic isolation and high common mode rejection.
The DXA-ALEXA also provides all the features you need including dual gain controls, phantom power, level indicators and headphone monitoring. The tri-color LED level indicators make it a snap in setting the proper recording levels.
The output is a balanced 5-pin XLR that connects directly to the camera via an optional cable. There is also an auxiliary mic level output via an unbalanced stereo mini-jack so it can be connected to a variety of other cameras and recording gear.
Power is from your rig via the 2-pin LEMO connector. An optional BT-PWR cable is available to connect the 2-pin LEMO power jack to a D-TAP.
A very useful feature allows you to use audio bracketing when using a single mono microphone to have a backup channel that is recorded at a lower level. This gives you a safety track in case the primary channel gets distorted from an overly hot input. This effectively eliminates the need for any limiters which can add their own type of distortion.
With the included bracket, you can mount the DXA-ALEXA in several ways to the camera cage. When using the ARRI ALEXA Mini camera cage, you can mount it under the handle, side bracket or anywhere with an optional V-Lock. The bracket has captive thumb screws to easily add or remove the device from the camera. The base of the unit has three threaded 1/4″/20 holes to also allow it to be mounted to the rails via a third party rail bracket – we recommend the Redrock Micro DSLR Baseplate.
