HDSLRs have proven to be the poster child for the democratization of filmmaking. Cinema-like depth-of-field, a deep color palette, and an unheard of choice of lenses in its class are available at a fraction of the cost of digital cinema cameras. HDSLRs present a host of shortcomings as a professional filmmaking tool, most notably, a lack of audio capabilities. Imagine holding the best of both worlds in the palm of your hands. A compact adapter that docks to the base of the HDSLR, providing XLR inputs for professional mics, VU Meters to monitor signal strength, tactile control of fade and gain, and most importantly, an AGC disable feature that enables certain HDSLRs to record noise-free audio. XLR INPUTS
The DXA-SLR PRO makes it possible to use professional microphones that require XLR connections. Two high-quality Neutrik XLR inputs ensure a noise free recording chain, even for longer distance cable connections.

INDEPENDENT GAIN
Each channel offers up to 20dB of gain on its HIGH setting, and 0dB of gain for more sensitive condenser type microphones.

PHANTOM POWER
12 or 48v phantom power can be sent to each channel for phantom powered microphones.

LIMITERS
Limiters are an essential feature for recording unpredictable sound levels, without distortion or clipping. Each of the two channels on the DXA-SLR PRO feature independent limiters that keep the audio levels below 0dB to prevent signal overload.

AGC DISABLE
The AGC Disable feature reduces the hiss that normally occurs when certain HDSLRs record audio during quiet moments. This is accomplished by delivering an inaudible tone to the camera to force down the recording level consistently throughout the recording. This allows you to use the adapter’s cleaner preamps for adjusting the volume of each input.

AGC
The camera’s Automatic Gain Control pumps up volume beyond a recording subject, creating noise.

DXA-SLR PRO actively supresses noise.

MONITORING
Lacking a headphone output and level meters, most HDSLRs lack the basic monitoring capabilities that are standard on pro video cameras. Recording audio without being able to listen to what the camera is recording is like shooting without a viewfinder. Several crucial monitoring features are included in the DXA-SLR PRO to ensure that audio issues are identified before and during the shoot.

MONITORING OUTPUTS

HEADPHONE OUT
With headphones connected to the adapter and the camera’s A/V output connected to the adapter, it becomes possible to monitor audio during and after recording with the flick of a switch.

VU METERS
Monitoring audio levels is made even easier with the DXA-SLR PRO VU Meter LCD Screen on the rear of the adapter. The meter is perfectly positioned in direct line of sight when holding the camera in a shooting position.
